To mark the premiere of the radio play “Herr im Garten” (Sir in the Garden), commissioned by Bayerischer Rundfunk, The Golden Pixel Cooperative and author Verena Dürr invite you to a collective listening session at the Medienwerkstatt. This will be followed by an open discussion between Verena Dürr, Iris Blauensteiner, and Lisa Truttmann.

“Maneuverability, precision, and efficiency guarantee safety, and that's what my name stands for—it no longer stands for me, it stands for the vision. I am a nameless protagonist in a garden—a pulsating dot on a digital world map.” (Excerpt from the radio play, originally written in German)

The radio play “Herr im Garten” (Sir in the Garden) is inspired by the life of Austrian pistol manufacturer Gaston Glock. However, information about him and his company is limited. Secrecy is in the nature of the arms industry. Although the Glock pistol has become the prototype for pistols around the world, its developer and primary beneficiary of a billion-dollar business keeps a low profile and lives a secluded life. This gives rise to speculation. And that is why this is not a piece about Gaston Glock – he is interchangeable. The protagonist of this radio play is also a prototype. He represents anyone – insert any business personality here who operates in ethically and morally sensitive terrain. You may encounter them in the media from time to time. Perhaps they remind you of someone in your neighborhood. Perhaps they like art, flowers, and fruit trees. Perhaps you recognize yourself in the character of this radio play and have a garden where you can stroll and reflect on your impact on the world.
