The event “A Rifle and a Bag” combines a film screening with a discussion to offer an insight into curatorial practice and film collaboration: Mona Schwitzer and Antonia Rahofer share personal insights into their ways of thinking and working, thereby opening up new perspectives on an internationally produced documentary film and its political, social and aesthetic dimensions.

On 7 March, The Golden Pixel Cooperative continues its cooperation with OKTOSKOP, the weekly film programme on Vienna's community TV OKTO. Dramaturge and film curator Mona Schwitzer, a member of the cooperative, will present a film that inspires her curatorial work, and provide insights into how she thinks and works through a discussion with Antonia Rahofer. This cooperation means the scope of The Golden Pixel Cooperative’s activities in 2021 will also include the medium of television. Together with OKTO, we are looking forward to enjoying this evening of home cinema!

Mona Schwitzer presents the collectively produced documentary film ‘A Rifle and a Bag’ (IN/RO/IT/QA 2020), realised by the NoCut Film Collective, an association of three filmmakers from three different countries: Cristina Hanes, Isabella Rinaldi and Arya Rothe. The film takes a sensitive yet formally resolute approach, presenting the difficult situation of a young Indian woman who, despite the multiple forms of discrimination she experiences as a woman, communist and former member of the Naxalite guerrilla movement, fights for a better future for her family and children.

OKTO has been offering all interested parties the opportunity to bring their issues and concerns to television in a self-determined way since 2005. OKTOSKOP is the weekly film programme on OKTO.
